In the documentary Schumacher Netflix released today on Schumacher, a documentary about the life of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, his son Mick, driving for Haas in Formula One this season, gives a rare glimpse into the personal life of the Schumacher family.

Unfair situation

In the documentary, Schumacher looks back on his childhood. "When I think back, the images that come to mind are those of the four of us having a good time. I see images of us riding on a go-kart through the countryside, I see images of us riding in a pony wagon, many moments that I remember with joy."

In 2013, his father suffers a serious skiing accident in the French ski resort of Méribel in which he lands with his head on a rock. Michael Schumacher ends up in a coma, but since then little to nothing has come out about Michael Schumacher's health. "Since the accident, the experiences and moments that are so typical of a family are no longer present. At least not like before. And in my opinion, it's very unfair," an emotional Schumacher told us.

Talking to his father

Schumacher also says that he would especially like to talk with his father about racing and Formula 1. "I think my father and I would understand each other differently now. I think we would speak a similar language, the language of motor racing, and we would have a lot to talk about. And that's what I keep thinking about. I think about how great it would be, what it would have been like. I'd give anything to have that..."
