Although this weekend is Scuderia Ferrari's home race, both the tifosi and the Ferrari fans don't seem to be expecting too much. Even driver Charles Leclerc is doing his best to temper the expectations.

While Leclerc won the race at Monza two years ago, he is pretty sure that something like that won't happen this year. "But I think this year will be a bit more difficult", he stated in conversation with Formula1.com.

"Of course, we did some progress since last year so it should be a better race in comparison to last year", said the Monegasque. In 2020, neither Leclerc nor Sebastian Vettel finished the race. The win went to Pierre Gasly.

Grab what there is to grab

The driver does see opportunities in the sprint race on Saturday. He hopes to find an advantage for his team in the predicted chaos. "It is also a weekend where we have the Sprint Qualifying", said Leclerc. "So hopefully we can take advantage of that and have a good weekend anyway. But on paper let’s say it’s going to be difficult."
