Nico Rosberg believes that, given Lewis Hamilton being found predominantly to blame for the clash that took Red Bull's Max Verstappen out of the race at Silverstone, his former Mercedes teammate should probably have picked up a harsher penalty than the ten second time penalty he was given. With Verstappen out of the race, and faced with a willing Valtteri Bottas in front, Hamilton was able to serve his penalty and come back to take the victory away from Ferrari's Charles Leclerc at Silverstone, and Rosberg believes the penalty probably wasn't quite big enough. "It was a big shunt," Rosberg told Sky Sports F1, when asked about his thoughts on the clash and the subsequent attempt by Red Bull to appeal against the leniency of the penalty. "And the decision was made in the moment on what kind of penalty would have been right or wrong and, afterwards, there was new evidence of new aerial cameras and footage and everything. So, one could still like take another second view, I'm not completely against that. "But for the interest of the sport, it's best to get a quick decision get over and done with, move on. And that's what we're trying to do now. "If the FIA think Lewis is at fault, then probably they should have found a way to make the penalty a little bit more severe, I think, because, if they really think that Lewis is at fault for what happened in that place on the track with that consequence for the other driver, maybe a little bit more of a harsher penalty would have been appropriate."
