Following the success of the British Grand Prix, the Hungaroring, home of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, is also set to welcome fans back for the first time since 2019 when the field descends in Budapest on the weekend of July 30th – August 1st, 2021.

While some of the tracks have already welcomed a limited number of fans this year, Silverstone become the first location a week ago to allow in huge crowds of spectators. The British Grand Prix was visited by a record crowd of around 140,000 fans on race day, signalling that events can be staged safely despite these still challenging times.

The Promoter of the Hungarian Grand Prix expects a similarly smooth event as it was at Silverstone even if that record number of spectators will not be matched. The Hungaroring became last year the second track to welcome the field after the season kicked off at the Red Bull Ring following the coronavirus-enforced shutdown period.

The Hungaroring is now facing an F1 race weekend with fans being present in full force, albeit the organisers is due to introduce strict protocols to promote safety of the spectators over the course of the three-day event.

Although it is usually one of the highlights of the weekend at the Hungaroring, the traditional Pit Lane Walk for fans will not take place this year, while the post-race ‘podium rush’ will also not be permitted, with fans asked to celebrate the winners from the stands.

The promoter announced last week that spectators can only enter the Hungaroring with the official Covid immunity wristband and a valid ticket during this year’s Formula 1 Magyar Nagydíj. There will be two wristband pick-up locations with one of them placed at the heart of Budapest while the second one located near the M3 motorway that leads to the race track.

In order to gain entry to the Hungaroring, local fans need to show their Hungarian immunity card or EU digital Covid Certificate while international citizens have to show either a negative coronavirus PCR test or an immunity (vaccination) certificate which can be the EU Covid digital Certificate or a Covid vaccination certificate recognized and accepted in Hungary according to the international agreements.

The official website of Hungaroring (www.hungaroring.hu) contains further information on the entry conditions and how to acquire the wristband.
