Leclerc was delighted to see Vettel on the podium

Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc was happy to see Sebastian Vettel on the podium in Baku despite losing out to his former teammate

Monegasque Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc was elated to see his former teammate Sebastian Vettel on the podium at the recently concluded Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Despite starting on pole, Leclerc could only manage a fourth-place finish around the streets of Baku. In fact, it was Vettel who despite starting 11th ended the race in second place, something the Ferrari driver does not resent in any way. "Seb has done an incredible job," Leclerc told select members of the media including RacingNews365.com . "Congratulations to him, I'm very happy to see him on the podium already with Aston Martin and the same for Pierre [Gasly] It was a hard fight at the end." Leclerc believes his weekend ended where it should have given Ferrari's lack of straight-line speed. "It's more or less the race we expected," Leclerc continued. "We expected the Mercedes and Red Bull to be quicker than us and to overtake us in the first stint which happened. We have two surprises, which are the two Aston Martins, but we did not expect to be so quick." Despite what transpired at Baku, Ferrari have now leapfrogged McLaren and currently sit third in the Constructor's standings.
