After a difficult and certainly not trouble-free start of his career at Red Bull, Sergio Perez has been in fantastic form in the last few races. The highlight of course was last weekend's victory in Baku.

In conversation with Motorsports.com The Mexican himself says he's starting to drive better and better and is getting the hang of the Red Bull. "I definitely feel I've made good progress. Not only in Baku, but also in Monaco. Every weekend I understand more and after every weekend we do a thorough analysis. We do a lot of work in the factory to figure out what we can do better as a team." He sees not only himself, but the whole team improving.

"We are improving and I see no reason why we can't perform at the same level at another circuit. My confidence is definitely growing. Understanding the team is also improving. It's only the sixth race of the season, so we still have some time to go. But it's important to keep this momentum going and keep improving, race after race."

Perez looks back on season start

While things are going very well at the moment, things were different at the start of the season. "We didn't have the season start we were hoping for. I found the adjustment more difficult than I expected, but from the first day we worked hard with the engineers at the factory. Finally we got a really good result for the team."

"Here and there we already showed moments of speed," Perez continued. "In Baku everything looked great, until it went wrong in the first run of Q3. However, we didn't get disappointed, we looked ahead and had an outstanding race. I am very happy with the result. This definitely gives me, my side of the garage and the team a huge boost of confidence. During the season you're on a rollercoaster, so it's important to enjoy these moments." Red Bull will be hoping that Perez can once again play a big role in both championships during the triple header that starts next week.
