Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has put his failure to qualify higher on the grid for today's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix down to an apparent lack of confidence. The Spanish driver is set to compete at the Scuderia's home race this afternoon, and with teammate Charles Leclerc impressing yet again put his car P4 on the grid, the pressure is well and truly on. "To be honest, I didn't do a good lap, I didn't do a whole lap well, each time just some good sectors," Sainz told selected members of the media, including RacingNews365. "As a result, my time is disappointing. I still have to improve myself, actually in every corner and then try to link it together in one lap. Maybe I'm just missing a little bit of confidence, just a few more laps to get that confidence and to get the balance optimal." By contrast, Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari garage just opposite will feel very content with his performance on Saturday, after qualifying in 4th. With McLaren and Alpha Tauri both looking very competitive at Imola, the Monegasque driver's lap was mightily impressive. As Leclerc openly admits, it was just about the best he could hope to achieve. "Yesterday I felt good, but in the morning just a little less today. Nevertheless, it went quite well in qualifying today, Mercedes and Red Bull are from another planet and so they can always do more," Leclerc explained. "McLaren also did really well. However, I am satisfied with my result today, I don't think I could have improved."
