Daniel Ricciardo could be satisfied after the opening race in Bahrain. Where his team mate Lando Norris did a strong job and finished fourth, the Australian finished well between the two Ferraris. Ricciardo expects to improve in the coming races.

The driver is in his first year at McLaren. Ricciardo switched last winter from Renault, where he was under contract for the previous two seasons. In recent months Ricciardo and his team worked hard to be there at the first Grand Prix and generally that worked out well.

Ricciardo was happy with the way he performed in Bahrain. "I was a bit unfortunate with the damage we found on the car after the race, and there’s still a few more things to learn and get to grips with which takes a bit of time. But given that, I’m confident we’ve got a lot more performance left to unlock," he told the press release.

Debut for McLaren

Next weekend Ricciardo can do it again. Then the race in Imola is on the program and he can once again fight with Norris who finishes the weekend best. "I’m looking forward to getting back in the car after a positive start in Bahrain. We secured a good result in that first race, and it felt amazing to make my debut for the team."
