Charles Leclerc, who is trying his luck at Ferrari alongside Carlos Sainz this year, reflected on his race after the Bahrain Grand Prix. Although valuable points were gained for the team, Leclerc also knows that more could have been achieved.

"There has been a lot of progress compared to last year, I didn't drive well here myself," Leclerc began in a comment to Sky Sports F1. "In the past, I've always struggled to manage the tyres during the race and that was my weak point here, but today we made a step in the right direction."

Matter of looking ahead

The Monegasque knows that although the Scuderia is not yet back to its old level, at least steps are being taken in the right direction. He explains: "Not yet where we want to be as I always say, but it's an important step forward and this is a good point to remember and take to the next race."

Leclerc continued, looking ahead to the next Grand Prix at Imola: "I'm really looking forward to it. Imola is a circuit I love to drive at. Unfortunately, I don't know about the fans. I'm really looking forward to going there. Hopefully, it will be more competitive than here, but we will push hard. I'm more optimistic than last year."
