The Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow F1 Team has announced further changes to its technical organisation ahead of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The latest overhaul to the organisation will see four heads reporting to Team Principal Mattia Binotto, namely Enrico Cardile on the chassis side, Enrico Gualtieri for the power unit, Laurent Mekies for racing and Gianmaria Fulgenzi for the supply chain.

The chassis department that is led by Cardile will be reorganised into four main areas. Cardile will himself oversee Chassis Performance Engineering, David Sanchez will manage Vehicle Concept, Fabio Montecchi will take care of Chassis Project Engineering and Diego Ioverno will manage Vehicle Operations.

The reorganisation will also see the race track engineering activity being integrated in the Chassis Performance Engineering department.

The team has also confirmed another change related to the Scuderia Ferrari Commercial, Marketing and Events department. The overhaul means that it will be part of the Brand Diversification Area, led by Nicola Boari.

The announcement was made on the back of Ferrari confirmation that will see the Maranello-based manufacturer return to the top class of endurance racing. The fabled Italian marque is set to join the World Endurance Championship in 2023, participating in the WEC’s new Hypercar category.

The return will see Ferrari compete on the top level of WEC for the first time since 1973. The new-for-2021 Hypercar category has been a huge success so far, luring several manufacturers into the top level of endurance racing. Ferrari is set to go against the likes of Toyota, Glickenhaus, Peugeot, Porsche and Audi, who have all committed to the Hypercar category.

Commenting on Ferrari’s return to the top class of endurance racing, John Elkann, Ferrari President said: “In over 70 years of racing, on tracks all over the world, we led our closed-wheel cars to victory by exploring cutting-edge technological solutions: innovations that arise from the track and make every road car produced in Maranello extraordinary.

„With the new Le Mans Hypercar programme, Ferrari once again asserts its sporting commitment and determination to be a protagonist in the major global motorsport events.”

Jean Todt, FIA President added: “The announcement of Ferrari’s commitment to the FIA World Endurance Championship with a Le Mans Hypercar entry from 2023 is great news for the FIA, the ACO and the wider world of motorsport.

„I believe in the concept of road-relevant Hypercars competing in the FIA WEC and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I’m looking forward to seeing this legendary brand taking on this ambitious project,” the Frenchman concluded.
