Romain Grosjean may have escaped a fatal accident at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. A three-month investigation into the crash was conducted to prevent a repeat and, according to Racefans.net, all the results and recommendations will be presented on 5 March.

The FIA World Motorsport Council will be given access first and, if approved, the full report will then be made public, it is believed. The investigation is said to have focused on three areas: the cause of the fire, why the U-shaped headrest came loose and how to improve footwell and pedal protection.

Multiple opinions

According to the aforementioned medium, several recommendations have been made for these areas. Some of these recommendations can be applied directly in Formula 1, others will only be implemented in 2022 when the new regulations enter into force in Formula 1.

In the future, for example, there will be a heavier load test for the headrest before the start of the season to prevent them from coming loose. Furthermore, the investigation committee has made some more recommendations. It is expected that Formula 1 will go along with all the advised safety reasons.
