After a day of discussion and voting, the advanced freeze in engine development now seems to be a fact, which means good news for Red Bull and Honda. The development freeze appears to have been agreed upon, although further discussions will follow to hammer out all the details. This is reported by Autosport.

The decision to bring forward the planned freeze on engine developments was unanimously signed off by Formula One teams today. Previously, not all teams seemed to agree with Red Bull's plans, but today's discussions seem to have brought the teams onto the same page.

For Red Bull, the decision means that they can put the Honda engine project in their own name without too much trouble, and thus continue as a team in Formula 1. Red Bull and Honda had already agreed to take over the engine production, but had to wait for agreement from the other teams.

Despite the fact that the deal is now officially done, there will still be some discussions to iron out the details regarding the engine freeze. Details will follow during the day as the discussions progress.

The Formula One teams and authorities will also vote today on the possible introduction of sprint races, and the previously announced race at Portimao will also be confirmed.
