Many mistakes were made during the Turkish Grand Prix. Not only by the drivers, but also by the organisation. Robert Doornbos looked back at Ziggo Sport in Crashen in the Keuken on a unique race weekend that ended disappointingly for Max Verstappen and others.

"As a fan, it was great, but if you look at it as an insider, of course, it was just hopeless," Doornbos said in his analysis of the race weekend. "Hundreds of millions are invested in those cars and then you end up on a circuit with new asphalt and it doesn't work. Then there are also tyres that don't work, that's not really possible at this level."

Verstappen a little frustrated

Doornbos referred to the lack of grip at Istanbul Park, which made it difficult for drivers to keep their car on the track even in dry conditions. Under those difficult conditions, Max Verstappen initially did very well, but during the race things went wrong for the Red Bull Racing driver.

Doornbos believes he might have been a little too eager to prove himself after missing pole position. "I've never seen anyone so down after a second place [in qualifying]. There are few weekends that he can score a pole or a win, because of course it's just a Mercedes party all year round," saidDoornbos.
