Zero positive coronavirus test – FIA

Formula One’s governing body, the FIA has revealed that zero people have tested positive over the course of the last seven days at the Austrian Grand Prix.

In order to get the 2020 F1 season up and running, the sport has put a heavily-revised calendar together. Although the financial well-being of teams have been a motivating force behind the relatively early start following the coronavirus-induced shutdown, Formula One and the FIA have stressed on multiple occasions that the safety and health of everyone working at the race weekends would be the first priority.

Any personnel travelling to Spielberg were tested for Covid-19 and had to produce a negative result before being permitted to enter the Red Bull Ring. Although the plan was to repeat the test every two days, the positive happening around the coronavirus situation in Austria meant that it had been changed with people asked to be tested every five days.

In a statement issued on Saturday morning, the FIA has confirmed that there have been no positive Covid-19 tests in the last seven days among F1 personnel at Spielberg.

“The FIA and Formula 1 can today confirm that between Friday 26th June and Thursday 2nd July, 4,032 drivers, teams and personnel were tested for COVID-19. Of these, zero people have tested positive.

“The FIA and Formula 1 are providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency. No specific details as to teams or individuals will be provided by the FIA or Formula 1 and results will be made public every seven days,” read the statement.
