Williams driver Robert Kubica has said that he “would love to race” in Formula 1 but should an offer to stay on the grid not appear he has “good opportunities somewhere else”.

Over the recent weeks F1 has seen driver changes and contract extensions with Valtteri Bottas staying on at Mercedes, Sergio Perez committing to another three years at SportPesa Racing Point, while Esteban Ocon has taken Nico Hulkenberg’s seat at Renault for next year.

Kubica leads teammate George Russell by one point in the standings but has been out-qualified every race so far and has only finished in front of the Brit twice, but the pole is weighing up his future possibilities.

“I think I have, let’s say, a clear view on what is possible, what is not possible, and what I would like to do,” said Kubica on Formula 1's website.

“Sooner or later there will be some decisions and probably once the decision will be in place there will be a follow-up on what I might do next year or what I will not be doing next year.

“For sure, Formula 1 is something I would love to race, but if it will not be the case then I have good opportunities somewhere else.

"When the time will arrive, we will have to make the decision and see what is possible.”

Whether the Pole feels he has done enough to stay at Williams he claims that “always you can do a better job” and has had the same mindset throughout.

“I never feel like I have done enough – for sure always you can do a better job and this is always my thinking,” he added.

“I think I will say, I would be lying if I said ‘yes’ but this has always been my approach.”
