Valtteri Bottas had a poor 2018 and came back like a different driver at the start of this season. He completely changed his strategy and after the first few races, fans thought that the Finn could have challenged Lewis Hamilton for the title. However, over the past few races, Bottas seems to have reverted back to the 2018 version of himself and is under pressure to keep his seat at Mercedes for next season.

The change that was made after 2018 was incredible and Bottas has revealed how he brought himself back from a challenging time.

“I wasn’t feeling very positive about anything, especially Formula 1," Bottas said to the official F1 website. "I managed to turn those feelings into more energy and a bit of attitude.

"I found a way to understand what I was feeling and realized that maybe I needed to prioritize myself more because, in the end, I only have one career.”

There is much pressure on Bottas this season and many rumors have been flying around about the Finn's future with people believing that he will be replaced for next year. He will hope to use the same approach going into the second half of this season and prove that he deserves his seat.

“I’m taking things day by day instead of looking too far ahead and really trying to make the most out of every situation," Bottas said. "It was a bit of a wake-up call last year.

"Obviously, there are different reasons that led me into that difficult last part of the year, but maybe there was a purpose – so I could find the next level for my performance by being in a different kind of mindset."

Bottas fans will hope that he finds this mindset and returns to his race-winning form.
