SportPesa Racing Point were "very unlucky" at the British Grand Prix

Sergio Perez had a disappointing Grand Prix, finishing the race in 17th. The SportPesa Racing Point driver had looked on track to push for a points finish but a collision with Nico Hulkenberg saw the Mexican have to pit for a new front wing. The team had hoped to perform for their home crowd but will have to wait until Germany for another attempt at a points finish.

“During the safety car period I [had] an issue with the steering wheel," said Perez to the Official F1 Website. “My brake balance [ended] up massively forwards, I couldn't stop the car and then I end up hitting Nico. So it was ruined with the safety car, with the issue on the brakes.”

“We were very unlucky. The first stint was very strong - I was managing my race, looking after the tyres and we were on course to score some points. Then, the Safety Car came out just after I had pitted and that’s what ruined my race.”

SportPesa Racing Point had a difficult weekend but will hope to learn from the difficulties and improve on their qualifying so that they are in the race right from the beginning in Germany.
