Sergio Perez is hopeful that Racing Point will be “back to our usual level” at the Monaco GP after a poor race in Spain.

In Spain Racing Point introduced a big aerodynamic package to its car, hopeful of better performance, but struggled for the weekend.

Perez finished 15thwhile his team-mate Lance Stroll had to retire after colliding with Lando Norris.

Perez said (quoted by Motorsport Week): “Yeah we are a bit worried. I think our form in Spain was very bad. A lot worse than expected. So we’ll see.

“Here [in Monaco] we hope it’s just track related and we just struggled in Spain as we were kind of expecting it to be.

“We are still analysing a few bits but we don’t have a specific answer for our poor performance there.

“I hope coming here we can be competitive and back to our usual level.

“I think all season we’ve been struggling for pace. I hope this weekend can be a good weekend for us where we can score plenty of points.”

The team are set  to next introduce a upgrade at the German Grand Prix in July while the Mexican feels the team needs to maximise their opportunities over the coming races.

“It’s important to think race by race, now we have a big opportunity, the best thing we can do is maximise the opportunities,” he added.

“We know the midfield, after five races, we are fifth in the championship, so it’s down to maximising every single race and that will be key this weekend again.

“We have to go there and maximise chances and make sure we get the most out of it and by doing that every weekend once you have a more competitive car it will be a bit easier.”
