Jamie Chadwick signs with Williams
Jamie Chadwick has been announced as a Williams development driver following her successful start in the W series which has seen her achieve two podiums in two races.
Chadwick is regarded as one of if not the frontrunner for female racing in the UK and is the only woman to have won a British Formula 3 race. She won the opening W Series race at Hockenheim before retaining the series lead after coming second at Zolder behind Beitske Visser of the Netherlands.
She is set to attend three Grands Prix for the team this season, making her debut at the British Grand Prix.
“Promoting women in motorsport is extremely important and having a female role model as part of our driver academy will hopefully inspire young girls to take up racing at a young age,” said Claire Williams.
Chadwick described the chance to drive for Williams as a “fantastic opportunity” adding: “I look forward to spending time in the factory at Grove, immersing myself within the team and assisting wherever I can. Being a part of the driver academy is an amazing platform and I'm excited to get started.”
