McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has praised his driver Lando Norris for the way he's performed so far in his young Formula 1 career, as the rookie has amassed 12 points already for the Woking-based team in five races.

Getting to Q3 in his first Grand Prix weekend ever already put Norris on the radar of many people, seeing he out-qualified his teammate Carlos Sainz quite dramatically.

Since then, he impressively finished sixth in Bahrain, and also got a solid P8 in Baku three weeks ago, before crashing out of the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend as he collided with Lance Stroll.

Brown took time to praise his recruit, saying he is very composed and mature despite his young age.

“Lando has matured a lot, he is 19 years old and he is very calm,” the American told Motorsport Week.

“One of the many things that had impressed us the first time we went into FP1 and now here he is in a Formula 1 car, the big time, and he wasn’t really any different from when I saw him on a Formula Renault grid. He wasn’t fazed. He is humble and he is confident and he knows he is learning.

“He admits where he might not know something and can improve so what you see is what you get in his personality. He is gaining confidence in and out of the race car so it is quite exciting to work with him.”
