Fittipaldi claims it didn't take long to get used to the car

Pietro Fittipaldi managed to get some time away from the simulator on Wednesday as he drove the Haas car in the Barcelona test. Fittipaldi, son of Formula 1 legend, says it didn't take him to long to get used to the Formula 1 car.

"Of course the two classes are completely different. The cars that we have in the DTM are much heavier and roll more, so it is difficult to place them next to a car with an open cockpit. The last time I was behind the wheel of the F1 car was in Bahrain: I had to get used to the car, but luckily not for long. That is the biggest challenge, namely to get used to as little time as possible," Fittipaldi reported.

“The amount of grip you have in Formula 1 and the power, those are normally things you really have to get used to. Fortunately, it happens quickly and it is more about gaining confidence to go around the corners quickly. One or two laps and you can get back on board."

Haas sits right in the middle of the constructors' championship. Evidence from the Spanish Grand Prix seems to suggest they have solved an issue which was producing too much tyre wear.

When Fittipaldi drove the Haas car in Bahrain, the issue was being assessed, but this time around he got the chance to test upgrades that Haas will bring to future races.

“I think the team has really taken a big step. They were really good in qualifying and in the tests I was already allowed to test parts that will be put on the car later this season. I think we have also managed to gather more useful information," he added.
