Romain Grosjean says things are looking positive for Haas going into Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix after a strong qualifying session for the team.

Grosjean finished ahead of teammate Kevin Magnussen in seventh with the Dane behind in eighth, meaning Haas is best of the rest ahead of the race.

Speaking after the session, the Frenchman admitted there was a positive feeling going into Sunday adding that the American outfit had been working hard at eliminating its tyre degradation issues.

“I have faith that the car will be good tomorrow,” said Grosjean.

“We’ve been working hard and here, we knew our problems should disappear. It doesn’t mean that it’s not (an) underlying (problem) and we don’t need to keep working for the rest of the circuits but here we knew it would be good.

“The race should be alright. Yesterday was ok, not incredibly fast but fast enough to keep the guys behind so we’re happy with that.”

Haas had threatened to be challenging Red Bull based on their pace from practice three but fell two-tenths of a second behind Pierre Gasly when qualifying ended.
