Williams is targetting a series of short term upgrades for the Spanish Grand Prix weekend in the hopes of improving immediate performance.

Williams senior race engineer Dave Robson says the team has a selection of new parts the team will trial on the Friday of the race weekend as well as during the two-day post-race test.

The team finds itself rooted to the bottom of the F1 constructor standings and is yet to score a single point so far in 2019 but that looks unlikely to change unless a boost in performance is found.

"With our Friday running in Baku being heavily curtailed, we have a range of test items for consideration on Friday," he said.

"However, as the race is immediately followed by a two-day test, we can concentrate on the short-term items on Friday before switching focus to the longer-term learning during the test."

The Williams man also highlighted the Pirelli compounds of choice for the Spanish Grand Prix, with the harder compounds C1, C2 and C3 being available to teams.

Many have struggled throughout the season so far in finding and keeping the tyres in an optimum operating window, something that could occur once again according to Robson.

"Tyre compounds for the race event are taken from the stiff end of the Pirelli range and could prove challenging for everyone depending on the track conditions.

"Since returning from Baku, the team in Grove have done an excellent job to recover the damaged components whilst also ensuring that all the test items arrive in Barcelona on time."
