McLaren rookie Lando Norris has expressed how happy he is with the way his team bounced back in Baku after the disappointment in China two weeks prior, as the Woking-based team had both cars finish well within the points at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

After a lap one collision with Toro Rosso's Daniil Kvyat, both McLaren cars' race was practically over in China, with both cars suffering big damage after the contact.

Two weeks later in Azerbaijan, McLaren showed their good side again, having one car in Q3 on Saturday and having both cars scoring good points on Sunday. For Norris, this bounce-back was very uplifting.

“We knew that kind of track, China, is a weak track for us, but we bounced back well,” the 20-year-old said.

“We didn’t dwell on it, didn’t get frustrated, we understood it wasn’t going to be a good weekend for us and this weekend would better.

“We maximised it and bounced back in a pretty good way.

“I always want more as a driver, the team always wants more, we’re happy with how we’ve done but we’ve still got a lot of work to do.”

With Carlos Sainz finishing seventh and Norris eighth, McLaren now sit in fourth place in the constructors' championship, leading the midfield. It's truly been a turnaround season for the papaya-orange cars.
