Right in time for the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend, Renault have recruited a second Chinese development driver, Ye Yifei to its junior programme.

Yifei has been added to Renault's evergrowing list of development drivers after impressing in the lower Formula Renault categories. He was victorious at the French F4 Championship back in 2016 and has also competed in the Formula Renault championships - finishing third in last season's Eurocup series.

Earlier on in 2019, Yifei finished runner-up in the Winter Series of the F3 Asian Championship.

"It's a real honour to join the Renault Sport Academy," Yifei said. "Over the years, I have seen its members go on to achieve great things in racing. It gives incredible support in all areas; physical training, working with world-class engineers, media experience and career guidance."

Some Renault junior drivers already are: Anthoine Hubert, and Formula 3 drivers Christian Lundgaard and Max Fewtrell.

Renault already have one Chinese driver in its junior ranks, Guan Yu Zhou - who has moved up to Formula Two for the 2019 season and he has already driven an old Renault F1 car in a demonstration run for the China GP.
