Kimi Raikkonen has insisted he will not retire until he cannot keep doing his best admitting getting motivated has never been an issue for the 2007 World Champion.

Raikkonen won the World Championship with Ferrari in 2007 and has since raced for Lotus, Sauber and Ferrari again. The Finn is now 39 and has started the new season in electric form in his new Alfa Romeo, scoring an eighth-place finish in Australia before beating that by one place in Bahrain.

Speaking ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix Raikkonen explained how he has no plans to retire just yet.

“Motivation has never been a problem even if the world thinks so.

“I do what I can and when I feel that I do not give what I should expect from myself, perhaps the time will come for me to leave."

After a solid start to his Alfa career, Raikkonen admitted it hasn’t exceeded his aims: “I do not really have goals either, so I did not have to change them.

“I can not talk about last year's car, I've only tried the car on a track.

“But I can say that a great job has been done during the winter,” he added.
