Former Formula 1 driver Pascal Wehrlein has expressed his interest in a potential return to the sport in the future, but the German also made it clear that he won't do it "at any price".

Wehrlein, who spent two full seasons in F1, never really got a good crack at it, as he spent his two years at Manor and Sauber in 2016 and 2017 respectively. He only scored a combined total of six points. In both cases, however, Wehrlein scored all of the team's points.

He has since cut ties with Mercedes and moved to Formula E, where the 24-year-old seems to be enjoying himself. He also landed a gig at Ferrari as a sim driver, a function that was occupied by Daniil Kvyat in 2018. Is a return on the cards?

"It has to be a good fit, like this year in Formula E," he told German news source Speedweek.

"I'm definitely not going to a Formula 1 team where I know I'm fighting for 18th place. I don't want that situation anymore," he said in reference to his years at Manor and Sauber.

"I couldn't be happier than I am in my current situation," he continued.

"I drive in Formula E and sit in the simulator for Ferrari. And I drive at a team that performs."

So, why is his fit at Mahindra so good in FE? The team has definitely provided him with a competitive car, and that's what makes racing fun for a driver like Wehrlein, who is in it to win it.

"I have fun again for the first time in a long time. I had a lot of fun in DTM last year. In F1, when you go into a weekend knowing 15th place is the maximum, it's not a competitive sport. I've already had two opportunities to win in FE. It makes me feel like a real racing driver again."

Wehrlein currently sits 10th in the FE championship with 36 points, 26 points behind leader Antonio Felix da Costa.
