Racing Point: "We will continue to push, develop and take a step forward"

Racing Point's Otmar Szafnauer has seen many positive points after his team's performance at the Australian Grand Prix. The reliability of the British racing team was solid enough to fight in midfield, with Lance Stroll eventually scoring two points in Melbourne.

Stroll's 9th place finish was extra special as he was forced to fight from P16 after a disappointing Saturday. But it wasn't a bad qualifying session for Sergio Perez who made it into Q3. Boss Szafnauer summed up his thoughts to TheCheckeredFlag.

“I am very pleased to see Lance score points in his first race with us. It was very mature and deserved this result," said Szafnauer.

“Finishing the points is a great way to start the season after the enormous efforts of the past few months. It's a shame that Sergio's strategy didn't work, because we had the chance to get both cars in points."

After Australia, Racing Point can shift their attention to the Bahrain Grand Prix for the second race of the Formula 1 season.

“We are leaving with many positive points and have learned a great deal. The focus is now on Bahrain, a completely different circuit. We will continue to push, continue to develop and take a step forward to get both cars in the top ten," said Racing Point team boss.
