Kevin Magnussen believes that Haas could score a lot of points after showing a strong turn of pace in qualifying. The American team finished sixth and seventh with Romain Grosjean finishing just 0.5s off of Charles Leclerc's Ferrari.

Haas looks to be the best of the rest in the midfield in behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull. With last year's rivals for fourth in the form of Renault qualifying outside of the top ten, Haas appear well placed to take full advantage.

The Dane admitted that he made a mistake on his first qualifying run putting more pressure on himself for the final lap but added that the team was on course for a good points haul on Sunday.

“I didn’t quite have the perfect qualifying session on my side, I made a mistake on my first tyre in Q1, which meant I had to use another set, leaving me with only one new set for Q3. That’s my bad, but fortunately the car was very good.

“I’m very proud of the team with what they’ve done to put such a good car on track again this year. They did a great job incorporating the new rule changes to allow us to maintain a competitive car.

“We’re not even that far from the guys at the front, we’re not fighting them, but we’re not too far. Hopefully we can build on this tomorrow and score some good points.”
