More changes at Ferrari expected in the "coming months"

Ferrari chairman John Elkann believes there is set to be even more changes taking place at the Italian manufacturer in the "coming months".

Scuderia are seeking to "build a future worthy of winning its past". Maurizio Arrivabene's recent departure meant that technical chief Mattia Binotto would take over his role as team principal.

Elkann admitted that a change of management was always on the cards, and perhaps a tad overdue, when speaking at the Detroit Auto Show.

"I have been dealing directly with Ferrari for a few months only," Elkann explained. "There was the need to strengthen the organisational structure of the team."

Elkann went onto speak about his team's new team principal, describing Binotto as a "figure with unquestionable technical competence".

However, Elkann refused to reveal whether Binotto would continue his old job as technical chief, in addition to his new role.

Reports from Italy this week suggested that the CEO of Lamborghini and ex-Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicalli could be given another chance at Scuderia in the management team.

But Elkann, rather predictably, held his cards close to his chest on the matter.

"I cannot anticipate decisions that will be taken within the Scuderia in the coming months," he said. "We will talk about it at the right time. We want to build a future worthy of winning our past.

"We want to win the world championship as soon as possible - we have been losing too much time."
