Williams Chief Technical Officer, Paddy Lowe is confident that hitting rock bottom in 2018 is a “healthy process”.

Williams only scored points in two races in 2018 scoring a grand total of seven points their lowest tally since 2013.

Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin, their 2018 lineup have both left with Stroll moving to Force India and Sirotkin being left without a drive.

Despite the tough year, Lowe believes that hitting rock bottom will allow the team to rebuild.

“[But] on the good side I think we found the bottom of the trench in terms of performance,” Said Lowe to Motorsport.com.

“That is actually a healthy process for the team to go through for the long term.”

Williams have an all-new line up for 2019 with George Russell debuting for the team and Robert Kubica making his long-awaited return.

“It has given the opportunity for our team to reboot and to do a proper analysis to see that we don’t make those same mistakes.

“It’s allowed us to interrogate every element of the operation, whether that be how our people are organised, to the structures we have in place, the processes, the procedures, our entire operations really.” Added Lowe.
