Kubica gets backing of his peers to get Williams back to the top

Valtteri Bottas believes the Robert Kubica is the right person to help get Williams back on track and performing where they should be. 

Bottas spent the first four years of his Formula 1 career with Williams before Mercedes signed him as Nico Rosberg’s replacement in 2017.

Williams has continued to struggle since the Finn left and ended up losing the constructors championship in 2018. 

However, Bottas believes that the future is bright for Williams and the signing of Kubica could mark the start of their return to the top. 

“For Robert, it will be nice to see how it goes,” Bottas said to planetf1.

“He’s been out of racing for a while, so it will be nice to see how he compares to George Russell.

“I think for the team, that has had a tough team – and I know how difficult it is to keep up the motivation and the good spirit when things are tough – maybe a new drivers’ line-up will bring more positivity and things to look forward.

“I’m sure they’ll be full of energy, both drivers, for the great opportunity they’re both having. Hopefully, that will help put Williams where they deserve to be and not where they are now.”

Kubica returns to Formula 1 after injuring himself in a rally accident. It will be interesting to see how he gets on.
