Dropped Williams driver Sergey Sirotkin has stated that he is “not finished” in Formula 1 after losing his seat to Robert Kubica for 2019.

Sirotkin had a very difficult 2018 season, only securing one point, finishing at the bottom of the Drivers Championship in an un-competitive Williams.

He said the news was “very tough to take” after talks between his team and his sponsors, SMP Racing, broke down, leading to Kubica’s promotion.

“I don’t want to give up in any way. I really hope that in a year I will return to the starting grid and prove that it was the right decision to come to Formula 1,” (planetf1.com).

“I have a clear understanding that, for objective reasons, I didn’t show everything that I could have shown. But I also have a clear awareness that everything is not finished for me in Formula 1.”

“Certainly it was a difficult experience, but it made me stronger.”

Sirotkin is unsure of his arrangements for 2019 and said “we are trying to collect all the options, but I think there will be no specifics in the next two weeks. If there is something, then at best it will be after the New Year holidays.”
