Former F1 driver Jan Magnussen has expressed how proud he is of his son Kevin, as the Dane cemented his place in the upper midfield of the grid in what has been one of his best years in the sport.

Everyone knows about the father-son combination of Jos and Max Verstappen, but the case of the Magnussens might be less known. Jan Magnussen is a three-year Formula One veteran, entering in 25 Grands Prix before being replaced by, you guessed it, Jos Verstappen. That makes Jan more proud of his son's achievements.

"I'm so proud of him," Magnussen senior told Danish newspaper BT.

"What I'm most proud of is the way he's manifested himself in the sport. People respect him and he gets appreciated as a driver. As a father, that's great to see."

Among current F1 drivers, though, Kevin isn't the most popular driver on the grid, as he's earned quite the reputation for being a very aggressive defender, sometimes crossing the line in what is legal or not.

"It's a lot more relaxed now and most drivers get along fine with him and respect him.

"Fernando [Alonso] maybe not, but I can't be too worried about that," he concluded.
