The Force India team name will be replaced by ‘Racing Point’ for the next season as the team officially confirmed the rebranding for 2019.

The change was confirmed after the official release of the 2019 championship entry, finalised after Force India confirmed Lance Stroll to be their second driver alongside Sergio Perez for the season.

Force India had been taken over earlier in the year in August by a consortium headed by Lawrence Stroll, father of Lance Stroll, and rebooted the team as ‘Racing Point Force India’, causing the team to start on zero points in the constructor’s championship.

The Force India name had been on the F1 grid for eleven years since after former boss Vijay Mallya took over the Spyker team, which had formally been Jordan and MF1 beforehand.

Changes elsewhere had also been confirmed in the FIA’s 2019 entry as ‘Mission Winnow’ has become the new title sponsor for Ferrari. Haas also has been renamed ‘Rich Energy Haas F1’ after Rich Energy became their new title sponsor.
