Sky Sports F1 pundit Martin Brundle believes Max Verstappen has a genuine shot at becoming world champion next season and has described the 21-year-old as the "best all-rounder" in Formula 1.

Verstappen had arguably the strongest second half to the 2018 season; with his season starting slowly, before a fantastic display of his driving ability after the summer break.

Red Bull Racing are making the engine switch to Honda for 2019, as they look for a more reliable power unit so they can compete with the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari.

According to Brundle, whether Verstappen competes with world champion Lewis Hamilton and runner-up Sebastian Vettel is not down to him. He believes it will be down to how Honda adapt to their new role as Red Bull's power unit supplier.

"As far as 2019 is concerned, I know that Red Bull is really eager to work with Honda," Brundle told Sky Sports. "The Red Bull has been very strong lately and I'm sure the Honda engine will be easy to integrate."

Brundle believes that Verstappen is quickly establishing himself as a serious contender to Hamilton for next season!

"He (Verstappen) is on his way to becoming the fastest all-rounder in Formula One," Brundle explained. "So I see Max participate every weekend for the win, which means they he should also be the title candidate.

"The reliability of the Honda engine is the biggest question mark. You would not dare use your house at the moment, but I think it is good, in terms of speed."
