According to reports from German news giant Auto Motor und Sport, Robert Kubica has all but secured his return to Formula 1, with reports from the normally reliable source stating his chances of getting a Williams seat in 2019 at 90%.

They also report that the Pole will make his decision later this week, as he has an offer to drive for Williams but also an offer to become Ferrari's test driver next season.

"It's only about details, for example about how many Friday practice sessions a third driver does," the report states.

"Williams is apparently selling the Fridays to a wealthy client."

Initially, the plan was to give the second seat to homeless Force India driver Esteban Ocon, but Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff revealed that this wouldn't be possible because of Williams' demands.

"We cannot invest at the level they need," the Austrian told Globo.

"Money is money, no matter how you make it available.

"But we cannot give what they want."

Auto Bild even go as far as saying Kubica has already rejected the reserve role at Ferrari to become a driver at Williams.
