Another race and another mistake from Ferrari. This time it was allowing Max Verstappen to get past Sebastian Vettel during the pit stops in Singapore to clinch second and set Vettel even further behind in his championship battle.

Mercedes have been almost perfect when it comes to reliability and strategy this year, with only the double retirement in Austria and a dodgy strategy in Australia holding them back.

Maybe it’s something to do with races starting with A… With America and Abu Dhabi coming up, it could be all Ferrari can hope for as Hamilton now has a dominating lead in the title race and Mercedes also have a commanding position in the Constructors’ Championship as well.

Vettel has revealed that he wishes he could consult Michael Schumacher about his current predicament, and Schumacher’s old rival Mika Hakkinen sees the reasoning behind this.

The Finn wrote in his Unibet column: “I have seen that Sebastian has said he wishes he had Michael Schumacher available to ask for advice, and I can understand why.

“Working very closely with the management and senior technical staff, Michael knew how to help get the most out of the Ferrari team.

“And it looks like Vettel has lost some faith in the team to provide him with the necessary support.”
