Vettel wishes he could seek legend's guidance

Michael Schumacher knows what it takes to win a title from Ferrari, something Sebastian Vettel has failed to do since his move from Red Bull.

It looks like the title will elude Vettel once again this season as he trails Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton by 40 points with just six races remaining.

It is not an impossible task but it is very unlikely, especially considering Hamilton’s incredible form in the past few races.

Since his retirement in Austria, Hamilton has won four times and finished second twice in six races as he has extended his championship lead.

This has led to Vettel wishing he could reach out and speak to Ferrari legend Schumacher.

The seven-time champion won five of his titles with Ferrari but has been in care ever since a terrible skiing accident in late 2013.

Vettel was speaking to Sport Bild, and said: “If he was healthy, I would ask him about many things.

“Not necessarily how to drive, but more things that are behind the scenes. Teamwork, Formula 1 politics. He has a lot of experience from his time with Ferrari.”

If Vettel was to win the title this year, it would place him level with Juan Manuel Fangio on five titles, with only Schumacher ahead.

Everyone at GPBlog wishes Schumacher all the best in his recovery.
