Red Bull driver Max Verstappen reveals his team never considered signing Fernando Alonso for next season, despite speculation.

There had been reports that Red Bull and the soon-to-be retiring Alonso were locked in talks over a potential seat for next season to replace the leaving Daniel Ricciardo.

However, Pierre Gasly has since took the seat to partner Verstappen for the 2019 season.

"I had an offer in 2007, in 2009, in 2011, in 2013, and two this year, one in Monaco, and one in August," Alonso claimed recently.

Verstappen, though, has gone against Alonso's quotes: "Alonso was not an option for 2019. It's something I know," the Dutchman was quoted by Spanish publication AS.

"I think I can get along very well with Pierre (Gasly) and I think they have also evaluated that, so I am satisfied knowing that they have chosen him."

Alonso will be ending his luxurious Formula One career at the end of the season, where he will be retiring and Carlos Sainz Jr. will be replacing his compatriot.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has been quoted this season claiming Alonso "makes trouble" everywhere he goes, which was echoed by other parties following the comment.
