Hartley: "I've not finished in the points enough"

Brendon Hartley's seat in the Toro Rosso is in danger. A number of names have been rumoured to be replacing the New Zealander, but nothing has been confirmed. In the press conference this afternoon, he confirmed he needs to finish in the points more to please Helmut Marko.

After a slow start, highlighted further by solid performances from Pierre Gasly, Hartley was rumoured to be leaving at Monaco. Half a season later, he's still in the Toro Rosso. The 28-year-old has scored just 2 points this season, 26 less than his team-mate who will be promoted to Red Bull in the Winter.

"I've been improving all year, it's clear I've not finished in the points enough time," Hartley told reporters in the press conference.

"Sometimes it's been out of my control, sometimes in my control. [At the moment] I'm taking it one race at a time.

"[Singapore] is a big opportunity for us at Toro Rosso. We took 4th last season so it's going to be a big opportunity. Everyone can see that I've been strong in certain scenarios. I just need more results in the points, and I need to start creating my own luck," Hartley concluded.
