Gasly: Singapore is the kind of race that I love

Gasly: "Singapore is the kind of race that I love"

Both Toro Rosso drivers will take to the Marina Bay Street Circuit for the first time ever. According to Pierre Gasly, this makes it an unnatural weekend. He will be in the cockpit of the Red Bull next season, so experience here this Sunday will be all the more important for the youngster.

"My only experience with Singapore was when I was the third driver for Red Bull Racing at the race. So I've seen it up close, so I know how hot and humid it is and how a night race is with everything around it," says Gasly on the HondaRacingF1 website.

With the race taking place in the night, it's a different schedule that both drivers are going to have to get used to. Here in Britain, you can catch the race at around normal time, but with the time difference taken into account, it's completely different for those involved.

"It is fairly straightforward because we stick to European times. You have to get used to racing on a track lit by lights and that you get up late afternoon and go to bed early in the morning," explains the French driver.

Despite not racing on the track before, Gasly expects the circuit to become one of his favourites.

"The super sticky conditions make it physically the toughest race of the year. Although I have never driven on the track, I can see from the layout that this is the type of circuit I love. It is very technical and has many corners where you have to get into a rhythm."

You can't knock that mentality going into a massive weekend for the 22-year-old.
