Toto Wolff: "We are going flat out to boost performance"

Toto Wolff has delivered his half-time report on the 2018 season. By now, Mercedes are usually in a commanding position to push on to win both World Championships. This year it's slightly different. They face stronger competition and Wolff acknowledges the team must work harder.

Wolff also mentions how the team remain in a positive position despite the fact that Ferrari are breathing down their necks. Lewis Hamilton won the two races leading up to the summer break.

"All in all, I would say that the 2018 season has been a marvellous advertisement for the sport. For us as a team, the half-term report is a positive one, as we are currently leading both World Championships," Wolff said in his Mercedes half-term report.

"We owe this to the efforts of our team in Brackley and Brixworth and to the driving skills of Lewis and Valtteri.

"At the same time, though, we also realise that we have dropped points in more than one race, so we are going flat out to boost performance even more for the second half of the season."

Ferrari seemingly have the faster car when more power is required. Belgium and Monza cry out for power and this may swing some predictions towards the reds. Wolff knows just what his team-members need to do in order to fight off attacks.

"It's a break that everyone on our team has more than earned. We will then come back refreshed with the necessary energy to raise our game even further in the second half of the season," said Wolff.
