The shocking news broke at the Hungaroring on Friday that the Force India team was put into administration after one of its drivers Sergio Perez took legal action against his own squad.

After months of financial instability, the news were actually not surprising. The team was believed to be long fighting for its survival and was not able to put the necessary investments into its car development programme which then in turn saw the team continuously slipping down the pecking order over the last races.

Team owner Vijay Mallya was seemingly unimpressed by the legal action triggered by one of his drivers.

Force India Formula One was placed into ‘administration’ today by the court based on a petition filed by none other than our driver Sergio Perez.”

To clarify things and explain his motivation behind the action, Sergio Perez published a letter on his social media site on Saturday evening.

“I'm writing this to send a message of confidence to my teammates and to all the fans that has always supported me in my professional career and in my personal life,” started Perez.

The Guadalajara-born driver revealed that one of the investors filed a legal action to a court in London to wind up the whole team. This legal move would have seen Force India being forced to shut down its operation with an immediate effect.

“As being myself one of the creditors of the team, I was asked to use a different legal procedure in the English court called 'Administration' which allows a company to continue operating while a new owner is found. As a result, the team is now in the hands of an Administrator who can sell the team and save the jobs of the 400 amazing people that work at the team,” concluded the Mexican.
