McLaren broke curfew at Hockenheim last night

The McLaren engineers were working late into the night as they broke the curfew for the first time this year. Each team is allowed to do this twice a season.

McLaren didn’t get much running done in the FP1 producing just 27 laps between the two drivers. Fernando Alonso managed to jump his car into 12th at the closing stages of the session. While Stoffel Vandoorne couldn’t get out of 20th place.

FP2 gave them the opportunity to do more running. And more running they did. But with the pair finishing 17th and 20th, things aren’t looking good for the Woking-based team.

During FP1, McLaren passed it off as testing for new parts coming to Hungary. It’s clear there is something very wrong with the McLaren especially if they stayed late to try and fix something.

The team have arrived back in the garage this morning ahead of FP3 and qualifying.
