Vettel scared this could be "last German Grand Prix for a while"

Sebastian Vettel is concerned that this weekend's Hockenheim Grand Prix might be the last German Grand Prix for a while.

There is no German Grand Prix on the 2019 Formula One calendar.

The race promoters are yet to have come to an agreement with Formula One about extending their deal beyond this year.

"I'm afraid that this is probably the last time (racing in Germany) for a while as far as I understand," Vettel said in yesterday's FIA press conference.

"Which would be a shame to lose one of the classic races.

"I'm literally from here, it's just half an hour away where from where I was born and grew up. The area certainly means a lot tome and it will be great to have a good weekend."

Vettel believes the reason the German Grand Prix is yet to be added to next season's calendar is financially-related. 

The Ferrari driver thinks other countries are prepared to pay Formula One more money for use of their tracks.

"Other nations are prepared to pay money, fund the Grand Prix, I think that's where the main problem is Germany's not ready to spend money on having the Grand Prix to advertise Formula 1, advertise racing, advertise Germany to attract people coming here."
