Charles Leclerc says that his Sauber team have to ensure "both legs are on the ground" with team performing above expectations.

Sauber driver Charles Leclerc is delighted with how his side have performed with the Hockenheimring race approaching and marking the halfway point in the Formula One calendar.

The 20-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Ferrari following his impressive form this season, believes Sauber should aim for even better results for the rest of the season but doesn't think they should forget how well they are performing.

Leclerc reckons the Swiss team should continue to look at their positive situation in a sober way.

"We are aware that we are already exceeding our expectations," Leclerc told Crash.net.

"We have to keep our legs on the ground."

Leclerc has been able to claim the last qualifying spot a number of times, but he believes that this should not be seen as the standard and put unnecessary pressure on himself and the team.

"It will not be a Q3 session every weekend, we will continue to fight, we also thought that Silverstone would be a big problem and that was not the case, so we have self-confidence," Leclerc added.
