Marcus Ericsson wishes Sauber would change the way their DRS operates after his crash at Silverstone.

Ericsson calls for Sauber to change how their DRS operates following his high-speed crash in the British Grand Prix.

The Swede crashed after losing control of his car whilst trying to overtake Sergio Perez.

He claims the collision occured because he didn't close his rear wing in time when going into a corner.

"When you're racing and you have this DRS zone, you want to try and be as late as possible to switch it off, and to switch it (back) on as early as possible to try and stay as close as possible," Ericsson told RaceFans.net.

"I wasn't sure after the incident if it was a failure or not but we've looked at the data and it seems like... because I have the button behind my steering wheel, it's quite bumpy there on entry you go on the kerb, and I think I just slipped. I didn't hit it."

Ericsson insists that he was not trying to go round the corner with DRS open.

"We thought it wasn't possible and obviously now I tried, it didn't work out so good."

The Sauber driver says that a change to his steering wheel would allow the team to avoid similar incidents in the future.
