Esteban Ocon claims he will fulfil a “dream” this weekend when he gets to drive in front of his home fans. The Force India driver is in good form scoring 10 points in the last two races.

The French GP has been absent from the F1 calendar for 10 years, and it’s been much longer since the circus last visited the Paul Ricard circuit.

Ocon remembers the announcement as the “best news from the whole of last year.”

"It’s been my dream for years to be racing in front of my home crowd, and now I will finally experience the fantastic feeling of a home Grand Prix," Ocon told formula1.com.

"I am very proud of the work of all the people involved in bringing the French Grand Prix back, and I hope the event will be a success.”

Whilst the F1 cars haven’t been on the Paul Ricard track for 28 years, Ocon has raced and won at the track inside the last half-decade. He hopes to recall these memories this weekend.

“I did race at Paul Ricard early in my career – it was actually where I had my first victory in single seaters in 2013, so I have some fantastic memories of the place,” he added.

“I hope we can add some more success this weekend.”
