After putting the second jewel on his triple crown on Sunday by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Fernando Alonso now hopes to continue his hot streak by doing well in the French Grand Prix too.

When talking to Spanish newspaper AS, Alonso looked ahead to this weekend's French Grand Prix, which will be his first time ever on the Circuit Paul Ricard.

"Winning Le Mans still feels like a dream, but now I can't wait to get behind the wheel of my car and to race in France," Alonso said.

"For me it'll be the first time driving on Paul Ricard, but I'm confident.

"Of course it's exciting to land somewhere you haven't raced yet, but I want to see whether I can continue my amazing week in France here."

Like Canada, straight-line speed will be of the essence in France, and that's something that McLaren has struggled with because of the Renault-engine. Whether Alonso can still produce some magic in his MCL-33 remains to be seen.
